Description

This program will focus on one of the Blue Heron Citizen Science projects. The Caterpillars Count project is all about counting and identifying the various Arthropod species (a fancy name for bugs, insects, and caterpillars) that birds eat. We will use the iNaturalist app to help us count and ID these important bugs.

When we learn what kind of bugs are available to the birds, and at what time of year we see them, then we can predict when migrating birds might be coming through! Come collect data like a real scientist and learn how you can participate in this project at home. Please download the iNaturalist app before arriving!
